Carolyn M. Lechner, age 83 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn, NE.
Carolyn was born on July 17, 1938 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Sterling J. and Caroline E. (Heng) Kreifels. She attended school and graduated from St. Bernard’s Academy (Lourdes Central Catholic) with the Class of 1956.
On August 20, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert M. Lechner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church near Paul and to this union four children were born: Robert, Juli, Ron and Janelle. Carolyn worked for several years as a Teller at Otoe County Bank in Nebraska City. She later owned and operated Carolyn’s Ceramic Shop and The Gift Garden in downtown Nebr. City.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Robert Lechner and wife Debbie, Juli Lechner, Ron Lechner and wife Kathy and Janelle Lechner all of Nebr. City; five grandchildren: Robbie (Sarah) Lechner, Tyler Lechner, Kourtney (Aaron) Jacobs, Holly Lechner and Thomas Krisko; four great-grandchildren: Hannelore, Jayson, Robbie Mark, and Kinsley; sister Marilyn (Orlin) Neels of Syracuse; sister-in-law Janet Kreifels of Lincoln; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Lechner on October 29, 2008; her parents and siblings: Francis “Pat” (Irma) Kreifels, John Kreifels, Joyce Kempkes (Norman), Jean Wurtele (Don) and Marcene Burr (Alan).
A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Thomas Schultes officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (2/3) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church/Cemetery or Nebraska City Rescue.
