After a win and a loss in subdistrict play, the Lourdes girls’ basketball team will get a chance to avenge their postseason defeat in the district finals.
Applications are open for scholarships and grants through the Nebraska City High School Alumni Foundation.
An afternoon reception at the Southeast Community College Learning Center at Nebraska City celebrated 47 years of contributions from Learning Center Coordinator Cindy Meyer, who retired from full-time employment with the college on Friday, Feb. 14. In retirement, Meyer plans to continue as a part-time floater in SCC’s Learning Centers, manage her son’s Airbnb rental, and support field crews on the family farm.

Noah Boyer wrapped up a 41-7 season record and picked up a fourth-place medal for the Nebraska City boys’ wrestling team at the NSAA Individual State Wrestling Championships on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the CHI Center in Omaha.
Nebraska City increased its season record to 12-12, extended its winning streak to three and won the rubber match of a three-game series against the Plattsmouth Blue Devils at the Class B-4 girls’ basketball subdistrict at Plattsmouth on Monday, Feb. 24.
It could have been argued that Nebraska City’s Makayla Vasser won an individual state championship last year in what turned out to be an incredibly close state final loss against Paola Vergara of O’Neill.
