February is National Self-Check Month, serving as a welcome reminder to take a step back and re-evaluate your overall wellness. A good self-check is more than a half-hearted once-over; consistency and listening to your body may instead lead to early detection of diseases or an illness that could otherwise take a toll on your health.

Firewood Storage and Insects

It has been bitterly cold lately! With cold winters, our heating bills go up. One thing many people do to save money on home heating bills is to use wood burning stoves and fireplaces to supplement the heat inside homes throughout winter. However, if the firewood is stored incorrectly insect issues can develop inside our homes.

Souper Bowl Luncheon Feb. 9 at NC Fire Station

The Nebraska City Museum of Firefighting is hosting the annual Souper Bowl Luncheon on Sunday, February 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nebraska City Fire Station,1409 Central Ave. The menu will feature more than 20 kinds of soup and delicious desserts! There’s something for everyone! Cost of the luncheon is free will donation, and all proceeds from this event benefit the Nebraska City Museum of Firefighting.
