A new scholarship offered by the Nebraska City Community Foundation Fund will help put technical training within the reach of more people in the community.Following the wishes of an anonymous donor, this scholarship, called the Dixon Scholarship, is specifically designed for Nebraska City students and/or workers of any age who are pursuing or wish to pursue careers in technical fields such as agriculture, skilled trades and technical sciences, health care, manufacturing and transportation.Anyone pursuing a certificate, diploma or associate degree program at any publicly accredited Nebraska community college or technical school is eligible to apply for this new scholarship.These $1,000 scholarships will be offered twice a year to residents of Nebraska City or graduates of any high school located in Nebraska City.
The first two Otoe County Veterans of the Month have been recognized for 2024.Otoe County Veterans Service Officer Chad Miller recognized Army veteran William Ramage of Nebraska City as the January Veteran of the Month and Navy veteran William Sweeney of Nebraska City as the February Veteran of the Month.Bill Ramage is a 1990 graduate of NCHS.
