The Nebraska City Public Schools board of education met on Monday, April 10, and took the following actions: Heard reports on the most recent committee meetings: Education, Americanism and Civics; Buildings and Grounds; Finance; and Policy; Approved the list of 2023 Nebraska City High School graduates as presented upon completion of the students’ high school graduation requirements; Discussed the new kindergarten through fifth grade math and science curriculum, and repairs to the middle school cooling tower pumps and the middle school boilers; Approved repairing a middle school heat pump loop pump at a cost of $3,807; Approved replacing a middle school heat pump loop pump at a cost of $30,513; Approved replacing a high school classroom water source heat pump at a cost of $6,236; Approved replacing a high school cooling tower pump at a cost of $13,500; Approved retrofitting the field lights at Pioneer Field to LED lights by hiring Facility Advocates to purchase equipment and advertise for installation bids. Cost for this portion of the overall project is $97,875; Discussed an overcoat and repair project for the track at Pioneer Field; Accepted the resignations of Michael Davidson, NCHS math teacher; Pam Frangedakis, NCHS English language arts teacher; Shana Kinnison, Hayward special education teacher; Susan Quick, IMPACT teacher; Charity Reeves, NCMS teacher; and Nicole Teten, NCMS English language arts teacher; and Approved the hiring of Kara Thomas, English language learner teacher; and Kris Vrtiska, speech language pathologist.
