This spring I have been delighted to greet so many young Nebraskans from the Third District visiting Washington on school and family trips. It is always inspiring to see their patriotic curiosity in government service and hear the hopefulness in their questions.

Navigable means navigable

Last week, I spoke on the Senate floor to fight a blatant power grab by the federal government. The Senate considered a resolution attempting to block the “Waters of the United States” (WOTUS) rule from President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Expanded ‘Many Books One Community’ Program Highlights Friendship

Under the creative guidance of the Morton-James Public Library, the annual reading program formerly known as “One Book One Community” is now “Many Books One Community” and will be enriching the lives of even more Nebraska City students as well as adults. Library Youth Services Manager Amanda Winkler is overseeing “Many Books One Community”. Using feedback from previous years, she developed a program she hopes will engage more readers as well as increase participation throughout the community.

Pioneer baseball tops Skutt, Seward

Cael Kreifel went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three driven in to power the Pioneer baseball team in a 10-6 win on Tuesday, April 4, at Steinhart Park. Kreifel’s home run in the bottom of the sixth inning capped a 10-run frame for the Pioneers and allowed the home team to rally from a 3-0 deficit to build a winning margin on the scoreboard.

Brownville Concert Series features Carole J. Bufford

The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to welcome back Brownville favorite, Carole J. Bufford. ROAR! Music of the Jazz Age, features classics from the Jazz Age songbook made famous by the likes of Sophie Tucker, Louis Armstrong, Al Jolson, Fats Waller, Bessie Smith, Helen Morgan, Ruth Etting, and more. Come join Carole as she travels back to a time where flappers, vamps and sheiks were shimmying in gin joints as a whirl of great social and political change happened all around. It’s sure to be one you won’t want to miss! The show will be in cabaret on Friday & Saturday, May 5th & 6th at 7:30pm, and in concert Sunday, May 7th at 2:00pm.
