
GLADYS MAE WESTON
Gladys Mae Weston, age 100 of Nehawka died April 7, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Gladys was born May 13, 1922 in Falls City, the daughter of Robert and Blanche (Filmer) Thorn. She married James Jewel Reys in 1940. James was killed in action during World War II. Gladys married Edward Weston October 4, 1945 in Seneca, KS. Ed died November 4, 1999. Gladys formerly lived in Oconto before moving to the Nehawka and Union areas several years ago. She worked at Ocoma Foods for several years before her retirement. Gladys was a member of the Nehawka United Methodist Church, Gold Star Mothers, Nehawka American Legion, VFW and Nebraska City Eagles Auxiliaries. Gladys loved people and it was said she never met a stranger. She was an avid sports fan and attended many games. She loved music and dancing and had served as a dance instructor. She is survived by her son, Thomas (Linda) Weston of Nebraska City; daughters, Linda (Jim) Nichols of Nehawka, Carol (Norm) Beccard of Union, and Tina (Mike) Pummel of Nebraska City; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters in law, Lorraine Thorn and Verdene Weston; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, daughter, Gloria; grandson, Jason Weston; great grandson, Matthew Boyden; sisters, Violet, Lavonne and Doris; brothers, Wayne, Kelly, Claude, Harley and Sherman. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with burial in East Union Cemetery near Union. Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Marshall Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorials are suggested to the Nehawka Volunteer Fire Dept. or Nehawka United Methodist Church.
