Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging has released the senior lunch menu. The menu for the next week is as follows: Friday, March 24: Popcorn shrimp, cheesy rice, pea salad, fruit.

NC Rotary Club hears history of downtown stone monuments

You may not know Ed Gregg’s name until now, but you see examples of his work around Nebraska City, especially downtown along Central Avenue. Jeff Barnes, former Nebraska City News-Press reporter and current author and speaker on Nebraska history, spoke to the Nebraska City Rotary Club March 15 on Gregg and his monuments, as well as some of Gregg’s lesser-known accomplishments, such as being the city’s first electrician or spending the better part of a year living in Chicago to maintain one of the first Ferris Wheels that was on display at the 1893 World’s Fair.

February 23rd, 1936 - Wednesday, March 8th, 2023 On March 8, 2023, Maxine Knabe passed away at 87 years of age. She attended school in Syracuse, Nebraska and was involved in 4-H and band. She also attended Peru State College.

GLENIS MARIA (HOLTGREWE) HOPP

Glenis Maria (Holtgrewe) Hopp, age 94 of Talmage died March 7, 2023 at The Ambassador in Nebraska City. Glenis was born March 16, 1928 on the family farm near Lorton, the daughter of Herman John and Hedwig (Hattie) Augusta Fischer Holtgrewe. She was baptized on April 6, 1928, in the home of her parents by Rev. H.
