2023 Waubonsie artists in residence are announced

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Golden Hills RC&D and the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway are excited to announce the Waubonsie State Park Artist in Residence awards for the 2023 Program! The Artist in Residence program was created to help reach a broader audience of park-goers, thus increasing the number of visitors and ultimately educating more people about the Loess Hills ecosystem. The artists and visitors will engage with the natural resources of the park through an artistic lens.

Protecting our kids is my top priority

We all agree that our kids are our future. In every community across our state, no matter the size, we all want the same thing – a better future for our kids than we had. Our highest priority is to protect our kids and their adolescent minds until they are old enough to discern and make their own decisions. That is why I support Senator Kauth’s bill, LB 574, that will keep misinformed parents from allowing their kid to have irreversible, gender-altering surgery. There is a reason why kids in Nebraska must be 18 to get a tattoo or 21 to drink alcohol and buy tobacco products. We enact laws like this because we understand that kids lack the judgment necessary to make certain kinds of decisions.

I Hope, I Hope, I Hope!

I think I have written before about my personal problems with vacations. The weatherman always seems to send the worst weather possible whenever I go on a trip! For example: I have always been fascinated with the Covered Bridge Festival in Iowa.

City park updates to be March Hot Topics

Nebraska City Tourism & Commerce, Inc., announces “City Parks Updates” as the topic for the Wednesday, March 8, Hot Topics discussion. Join NCTC and local and area business owners, managers, and residents as we hear from Patrick Wehling, Doug Friedli and Nick Schmitz, who will update us on city parks, including Aquatic Center repairs and opening date, the Snack Shack, ball games and teams, and an update on the new Sports Complex fund-raising and project progress.
