William “Bill” Long Sr., 86, of Sidney, IA died March 2, 2023, at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. Bill was born December 15, 1936, to Jessie and William Hume Long and grew up south of Knox while attending grade school in the country.

The Nebraska City City Council tabled a decision on the future of the Nebraska City Crime Stoppers organization until the council’s March 20 meeting. Mayor Bryan Bequette suggested the matter be tabled to give Nebraska City Police Chief David Lacy, who was absent from the council’s March 6 meeting, the opportunity to be part of the discussion.
