Connecting specialty crop growers, pesticide applicators and beekeepers through online mapping

Specialty crops, like fruits and vegetables, and pollinators can be sensitive to pesticides. That’s why the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is encouraging commercial specialty crop growers, pesticide applicators and beekeepers to work together to protect sensitive crops and pollinators from harmful pesticides. Pesticides include all categories of pest control products such as herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.

Tax Relief for Nebraskans

We’re rolling toward the halfway mark of the session. At this point, we’re debating legislative bills/resolutions that have been voted out of their respective committees in the mornings until the lunch hour with committee hearings following in the afternoon. There are many issues we face in Southeast Nebraska; tax relief is always at the top of my agenda. Governor Jim Pillen designated six priority bills for this Legislative session aimed at modernizing Nebraska’s tax code and making our state’s tax structure more competitive with other states. This week, I would like to highlight some of those bills for tax relief.

Four KOC competitors advance to state free throw competition

Over the last month, the Knights of Columbus have hosted free throw competitions at three different levels. The Council local competition was followed up with winners advancing to districts in Plattsmouth on Feb. 26. Each of those winners advanced to Eastern Regionals in Lincoln, which was March 4. Winners were determined for girls and boys in ages from 9 to 14. Four of the district winners will be eligible to compete in the Nebraska State Championships in Grand Island on April 15.

Delivering on our commitment to accountable government

This week the Supreme Court heard arguments on Biden v. Nebraska and U.S. Department of Education v. Brown, two challenges to the Biden administration’s student debt cancellation proposal. The administration’s debt cancellation scam is just one example of a pattern of irresponsible economic policies that have resulted in ongoing inflation, exacerbated workforce woes, and increased financial hardship hitting American households.

My Time at Our Southern Border

This weekend, I had the opportunity to visit our southern border and see firsthand the chaos occurring there. Our trip to the Rio Grande Valley reaffirmed that what is going on at our border is nothing short of a national security crisis. The Biden administration’s reckless disregard for border security has turned every state — including Nebraska — into a border state.
