Data from the National Center for Education Statistics indicates that business was the most popular bachelor's degree conferred during the 2019-20 school year. NCES date indicates that 387,900 bachelor's degrees in business were conferred during that school year. 'Business' included programs such as management, marketing, and related support services, as well as culinary, entertainment, and personal services. Next up was health professions and related programs (257,300 degrees) and social sciences and history (161,200 degrees). Curiously, despite a growing emphasis on STEM in many secondary school curriculums, just 6 percent of bachelor's degrees (128,300) were conferred in engineering.
