Work is currently underway by members of a partnership that includes downtown businesses, the City of Nebraska City, and the city’s museums and tourist attractions to form a Creative District within Nebraska City that would ultimately create tourism and economic opportunities.
Nebraska City motorists will see construction crews working on 11th Street and other main roads in the city when the weather warms up. The Nebraska City City Council passed an ordinance to create a paving district for the 11th Street Improvements project, and it also awarded a $788,992.25 bid to Pavers Inc.

Nebraska City’s Tarryn Godsey goes in for a layup against Plattsmouth during a regular season game. The Pioneer girls’ basketball team wrapped up its regular season on Monday, Feb. 20, with a 47-34 loss at Plattsmouth in the subdistrict basketball tournament.
Lourdes enjoyed a slim lead at the half on Monday, Feb. 20, but Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer came on strong in the second half and got a big fourth quarter performance from its leading scorer to take an opening round game, 46-30, in boys’ basketball subdistrict action at Johnson-Brock.
Humanities Nebraska has provided a list of speakers who will be visiting Nebraska City in the weeks ahead. They are: Jose Francisco Garcia, who will speak on “How Chocolate Twice Conquered the American Continent: A Deliciously Historical Perspective.” His talk, sponsored by the Morton-James Public Library, will begin at 7 p.m. March 2 at the library, 923 1st Corso.
