Lyle Eldon Weatherby age 87 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Prestige Care Center of Plattsmouth. He was born on August 14, 1935.
Joella Jean Lechner, age 85 of Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away on December 11, 2022 in Richardson, Texas. Joella was born on August 17, 1937 in Auburn, NE to the late Charles Clark and Naomi Doiel.

Traffic fatalities in Nebraska will be at a 15-year high! If traffic fatalities continue at the current rate, we will end the year at the highest number in 15 years. Law enforcement across Nebraska is partnering with the NDOT Highway Safety Office (HSO) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to share the message about the dangers of impaired driving.
Applications are being sought for $350,000 in grant funds available for repair and rehabilitation of historic properties in communities of less than 30,000 population. The Rural Nebraska Historic Preservation grant program, being administered by History Nebraska, is intended for properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, properties in a National Registerlisted historic district, or sites determined to be eligible for listing.
The Missouri River Basin-Lewis and Clark Visitor Center has two special events planned. The first is “Christmas for the Birds,” which will offer children and families a chance to construct free bird feeders for their backyards.
As Nebraska City searches for its next city administrator, existing city staff members have stepped forward to assume some of the administrative roles temporarily. During the Dec. 19 Nebraska City City Council meeting, council members discussed a compensation package for Interim City Administrator Marty Stovall, City Clerk-Treasurer Randy Dunster, Assistant City Clerk-Treasurer Patricia Moore, Account Clerk Katie Heng, Administrative Clerk Callie Painter, and Building Inspector Keith Morrison until a permanent city administrator is hired for the city.
