Lourdes One Act Runner Up

Lourdes One Act hosted the district contest on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and ended the day by taking a runner up finish. The One Act is directed by Mrs. Lesley Gould. The competition performance is a drama titled, “The Other Room.' Twenty-one students were cast for the play. Pictured is the cast and crew of the production. Also pictured is Ryan Esser accepting the runner up plaque on behalf of Lourdes.

Lourdes Central Catholic releases high school, middle school honor rolls

Lourdes Central Catholic has released its first quarter honor rolls for students in grades 6 through 12. High school students on the roll are: Seniors: Andrew Bakula, Rylan Esser, Sofia Fulton, Caroline Gay, Makenzie Green, Theresa Gygi, Jada Lyons, Evelyn Madison, Kassidy Olson, Citlali Rodriguez, Koralynn Schnitzer, Ella Welsh, and Vance Weninger.

Is your desk getting you sick?

Winter is a time of year when colds and the flu tend to spread more easily. People know that door handles and commonly shared items like remote controls and even mobile phones can be hot spots for various bacteria and viruses, but what about your desk? According to WebMD, more than 10 million bacteria are on a typical office desk, which is 400 times more bacteria than is found on the average toilet seat. NBC News investigative correspondent Vicky Nguyen tested her own desk, computer and mouse with a specialized swab in 2021. Her desk scored 7,506, a numerical score given to calculate how soiled the area is. That figure was 75 times higher than what high-touch hospital surfaces are expected to be for cleanliness. Other coworkers scored much higher. Routinely wiping down desks and computer equipment with recommended disinfecting wipes can help to corral germs. In addition, do not to eat at your desk and keep pets away from workspaces to tame bacteria.

UNL-led study to focus on state’ wild turkey populations

Through a new study, University of Nebraska–Lincoln researchers seek to understand wild turkey populations across Nebraska, including survival and harvest rates and resource selection. The five-year study, funded by a $1.8 million grant from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, is a collaboration among Nebraska U., the Nebraska Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and the University of Georgia.
