‘Hocus Pocus’ wins Premier Bank Best Detail Award

The staff of the Nebraska City branch of Premier Bank continued their winning ways for a second year, receiving “Best Detail Award” for this year’s “Hocus Pocus”themed decorating effort. Flickering candles, labeled jars of ingredients for witches’ brews, a tombstoned graveyard, and a coffin were just a few of the touches that got the judges’ attention and earned the staff their award. Open Door Dinner

First Christian Church at 114 N. 8th St., will be hosting its open-door dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 8. The menu for the dinner is cream chicken over biscuits, tossed salad and pumpkin bars. The meal is free and open to all.

PSC women begin season with split

The Peru State women’s basketball season began over the weekend as they went 1-1 on their first road of the year. On Friday night, they defeated Central Christian College 82-63. On Saturday night they were defeated by McPherson 73-56. Game 1 at Central Christian College The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair as neither team could get out to a big lead. The Tigers could only extend out their lead by three before Danielle Howard (Uniontown, Kan.) hit a jumper to make the score 14-13 Central Christian.
