One of the light-weight boards just tipped over, without very much momentum, and punctured a hole in the wall.

Shopping is foremost on the minds of many people come the holiday season. When considering loved ones and acquaintances while making holiday shopping lists, tangible gifts, such as clothing or items for the home, may be the first things that come to mind. However, experiential gifts also merit consideration. Experiential gifts are those that focus on experiences rather than items. These can include anything from a horseback riding adventure to a spa day to concert tickets to getting behind the wheel of a race car. Experiential gifts can be tailored to people's interests. A 2014 study by researchers at San Francisco State University showed people tend to realize greater well-being from life experiences and consider them to be a better way to spend their money. Overall satisfaction tends to be greater with gifted experiences than with material things. Furthermore, the Harris Group found that 72 percent of millennials actually want to spend more money on experiences rather than things.

Lawsuit claims 2020 election fraud

A lawsuit filed in all 93 counties in Nebraska alleges that the 2020 presidential election was rigged and seeks $10 billion in damages. The Keping Room ribbon cutting celebrates ownership change

Taylor McGinnis prepares to cut the ribbon to celebrate the ownership change at The Keeping Room, 717 Central Ave., on Thursday, Nov. 3. McGinnis, a Nebraska City native, took over ownership of the retail side of The Keeping Room earlier this year from Kelly Bequette, who still operates the café side. “Decorating has always been a passion of mine and I’ve loved The Keeping Room for years,” said McGinnis. “I feel blessed to get to turn a passion into a career.” The ribbon cutting kicked off The Keeping Room’s Christmas Open House weekend, which featured live music, cookies, cider, and visits from Santa Claus. Vasser named CSG athlete of the year

Nebraska City’s Makayla Vasser added an accolade to her young athletic resume recently when she was named as the Cornhusker State Games Youth Female Athlete of the Year. Vasser won seven medals at the 2022 Cornhusker State Games. She won gold in the shot put and silver in the discus for track and field. She won gold medals in wrestling for the boys’ 14-andunder freestyle, the girls’ high school freestyle and the girls’ high school folkstyle. She won silver in boys’ folkstyle and boys’ Greco Roman. Youth sports for the Cornhusker State Games are for those 17-and-under. There were 322 youth track athletes and 272 youth wrestlers. There were 2,000 overall youth female athletes at the games. Athletes from 23 states competed in six divisions and 71 sports at the Cornhusker State Games in 2022.
