Keep Nebraska City Beautiful earns gold standing
At the Keep Nebraska Beautiful 2022 Conference at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center last week, Keep Nebraska City Beautiful received Gold standing as a Keep America Beautiful affiliate. Applications for Rural Fellowship program now open
Summer 2023 will mark the Rural Fellowship program’s 10th anniversary. The seven-week program, housed in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, places college students in Nebraska towns to help create and execute community-improvement projects.
Excitement already building for next Battle with the Bulls
It’s been just a few weeks since the Battle with the Bulls event at Farragut, but Jamie Avey of Gold Buckle Production, Inc., says organizers are already excited for next year. This was the third year of Battle with the Bulls and the first year of the event being hosted in Farragut.
Fall is a great time to sample soil
Fall is an excellent time to soil sample fields for nutrients following harvest. With the very dry conditions for most of the region, crop yields may be impacted as well as nutrients used by the crop. With the high fertilizer prices, you may be able to save money on your fertilizer bill. In previous years there have been a number of fields in southeast Nebraska that showed signs of nitrogen deficiencies, with potential for other nutrient deficiencies or imbalances.
Nebraska Lottery distributes beneficiary funds
The Nebraska Lottery recently distributed among its beneficiary funds $12,600,007, derived from a share of Scratch and Lotto ticket sales for the previous three months. A total of $893,099,896 has been distributed in quarterly transfers since the Nebraska Lottery began operation on September 11, 1993.
