NC Senior Softball Players and Parents

Pictured are Nebraska City senior softball players and their parents. The senior players were honored at the team’s senior night at its last home game of the season against Auburn. Nebraska City beat Auburn, 12-2. It was the second win for the Pioneers against the rival Bulldogs. The Pioneers posted a final record, including postseason play, of 15-11.

August’s Consumer Price Index shows inflation continues to rise. Prices for consumer goods have risen across the board – especially necessities like food and shelter. Unfortunately, inflation shows no sign of easing, and the National Energy Assistance Directors Association anticipates a 17 percent increase in the average household cost for Americans to heat their homes this winter.

Open Door Dinner

First Christian Church at 114 N. 8th St., will be hosting its open-door dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 11. The menu for the open-door tacos, refried beans, nacho chips and cake. The meal is free and open to all.

Otoe County launching ‘Operation Green Light’ in support of local veterans

In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Otoe County announced that county buildings would be illuminated green November 7th through the 13th as part of Operation Green Light, a new national collaborative initiative of the National Association of Counties (NACo) to support military veterans, as well as raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families.
