Officials with Bomgaars confirmed the Sioux City, Iowa-based company’s acquisition of 73 stores, including the Nebraska City location, from Orscheln Farm and Home as part of a larger industry mega-deal. The transaction will make Bomgaars the second largest farm and ranch retailer in the nation based on total store count.

The Lourdes volleyball team will host a triangular against Pawnee City and Lewiston tonight. Lourdes enters the match with an overall record of 17-11 with the team having won seven of its last nine matches.
Members of the Nebraska City girls golf team represented the Pioneers at the two-day state golf championships in Gering at Monument Shadows Golf Course. Isabelle Johnson was the top finisher for the Pioneers. She shot 97990 for a 24th place 187. Ella Welsh shot 94-96 for a 26th place 190 and Grace McNeely shot 98102 for a 33rd place 200. Voting is going on now through Oct. 31 on the Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce Facebook page for this year’s entries in the seventh annual NCTC Scarecrow Contest.
