Taste of AppleJack Recipe Contest attracts a dozen contestants

The annual Taste of AppleJack All Things Apple Recipe Contest attracted a dozen contestants and a large crowd of tasters who voted for the People’s Choice contest entry. The contest, which took place Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Historic Barns at Arbor Day Farm saw Gerry Brezenski and the First Lutheran Foodies win the People’s Choice award for the group’s apple brats entry.

A fourth quarter touchdown pass from Callen Schnitzer to Amudi Musa broke up a shut out attempt by Johnson Brock in Friday, Sept. 23, ac-tion against Lourdes at Peru State College. The Knights threated to score earlier in the game, only to be turned away. Johnson Brock used three second quarter touchdown runs by Jalen Behrends to take control of the action and led 44-0 late when the Knights got their touchdown pass on a 17-yard throw and catch. Rush leaders for the Knights on the game were Nolan Beccard, 40; Levi Anthens, 31 and Musa, 30. Behrends finished with 137 yards rushing to lead J-B. Lourdes, 1-4, will play on Friday, Sept. 30, against Diller-Odell for the school’s homecoming game at Peru State College.
