The Peru State College Athletic Department and the Peru State Foundation will be hosting Dale Thomas Night on Saturday, September 3, at its first home football game. Thomas, longtime public address announcer for Bobcat football, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 1, 2021.
Nebraska City High School conducted its Back to School Bash on Aug. 12. Event attendees enjoyed concessions, heard from Pioneer fall sports athletes, listened to the Pioneer band, cheered along with the NCHS cheer team, and enjoyed fun activities including bounce houses. Nebraska City High School has also welcomed its incoming freshman class, the graduating class of 2026.

The History Nebraska Foundation received an $875,000 grant for operating costs from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 through the City of Lincoln/Lancaster County. The funds were awarded as part of a nearly $5 million grant program to benefit 15 non-profit tourism organizations.
