Farm to Fork

Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce celebrated the 6th Farm to Fork event on Sunday, Aug. 21, on Central Avenue. Plans are already underway for the 7th Farm to Fork, which will be Aug. 20, 2023. Tickets for the next Farm to Fork will go on sale on April 1, 2023.

PSC Volleyball Drops First Two Matches of the Season

This past weekend the Bobcat volleyball team hit the road for a tri-match as they faced Central Christian College and Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas on Friday night. Unfortunately, Peru State lost a heartbreaker in the first match after being up two sets to zero and ended up losing in five. Sterling handled Peru State as they swept the Bobcats who fell to 0-2 to start the season.

Sportsmanship principles all young athletes should know

Competitive sports have a lot to offer young people. In addition to exposing children to the thrill of competition, competitive sports can set a foundation for a lifetime of healthy living. One study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine in 2014 found that afterschool physical activity programs were the most effective strategy to reduce childhood obesity among children between the ages of six and 12.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Closes Summer Driving Season Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed from the road 15 impaired drivers during the first weekend of the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. The national campaign marks the end of the summer driving season.

Final Farmers Market

Margaret Spiers of the Children’s Watering Tower Garden was on hand at the final Farmers Market of the 2022 season to distribute seeds at Kids Corner for cold weather plants on Thursday, Aug. 25, near the Veterans Memorial Building parking lot on Eighth Street between Central Avenue and 1st Corso.
