Nebraska Film Office Grant Eligibility Expanded to Include Television Series & Miniseries

Earlier this year, eligibility for the Nebraska Film Office Grant was expanded to include television series and miniseries. Ad m i n is -tered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the Film Office Grant offers financial support for television and film projects that are budgeted to spend at least $1 million in Nebraska and which feature Nebraska-based stories and locales.

State, local incentives available to filmmakers

Both state and local grants are available to filmmakers who want to make a movie or TV show in the Cornhusker State. “The Snack Shack,” currently filming in Nebraska City, received $200,000 from the Nebraska Film Office and $50,000 from the Nebraska City Economic Development Growth fund before filming began. Nebraska Film Office Grant Administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED), the Nebraska Film Office Grant is available to any public or private, resident or nonresident, production company that will produce a feature film, television series, or miniseries on location in the State of Nebraska. LB840/863, Local Optional Municipal Economic Development Act (LOMEDA) The Local Option Municipal Economic Development Act (LB840, 1991) authorizes incorporated cities and villages to collect and appropriate local tax dollars— including sales and/or property tax, if approved by the local voters—for economic development purposes.

Nebraska native returns home to shoot film about youthful days in Nebraska City

A Nebraska native has returned home to film a Nebraska story, in large part because of a new state grant program for filmmaking. Adam Rehmeier, now a Michigan-based screenwriter and director, has been shooting his coming-ofage comedy, “Snack Shack,” in his hometown of Nebraska City as part of a six-week shooting schedule.

Malcom X, two other advance for Nebraska HOF Nebraska City’s Champman receives votes

Paul Hammel, Nebraska Examiner Civil rights leader Malcolm X survived the first cut to be inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Fame on Friday along with educator/author Louise Pound and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer/director Howard Hanson. The seven-member State Hall of Fame Committee pared the list of eight nominees to the three finalists after a brief discussion on Friday.

NC fastpitch softball closes out 38-win summer campaign

The Nebraska City Fastpitch Softball 18U team closed out its 2022 season at the USSSA 18B Nationals Tournament in Wichita, Kansas July 13 – 16. Competing against 24 teams from throughout the Central States region the team compiled a 3-3-1 record at the event. The national event closed out a successful season for the team, finishing the summer campaign with a 38-8-1 overall record. Season highlights include first place finishes at the Nebraska City, Eastern Nebraska Wins for Warriors Memorial Day and Southeast Nebraska Softball League tournaments. Additionally, the team achieved an undefeated record in league play at 15-0. Offensively the team Batting Average for the season was .447, with a 2.96 ERA defensively. The team is coached by Nick Schmitz, Rob Becker and Phil Silvius.
