Gas prices continue to soar

After eight terms of simply acting as a National Republican Party agenda “Rubber Stamp”, I was not surprised to read in the July 8, 2022, Nebraska City News-Press, the Nebraska House of Representative Adrian Smith article “Corn can provide food and fuel without sacrificing either” where he chooses party denigration of President Biden and Biden ridicule as opposed to supporting President Biden’s attempts to lessen the effects of inflation upon “ALL” Nebraskans including Smith’s constituents.

State DHHS offers up to $200,000 in medical provider student loan assistance

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is offering two incentive programs providing up to $200,000 in student loan repayment for qualified medical care providers who agree to work in rural and underserved communities in state or federally designated shortage areas. No local match is required for the next few years.

Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging has released the July lunch menu. The menu for the next week-and-a-half is as follows: Monday, July 25: Tuna noodle casserole, broccoli and cauliflower, apple cobbler.

The student doctor; a complement to patient care

As a clinical professor at my state’s medical school, I frequently have medical students seeing patients with me in clinic. While the majority of patients are happy to allow student involvement, some decline. This makes me wonder what misconceptions lead patients to be averse to trainees participating at their clinic visits or hospital bedsides. In my experience, the presence of learners has a positive influence on our work in the clinic and hospital.
