SCC Job Enhancement Scholarships boost local workers and businesses

As you can imagine, a hotel/conference center complex with 140 guest rooms, 14,000 square feet of meeting rooms, a restaurant and a huge indoor pool requires a mammoth amount of around the clock maintenance. That’s why the eight-person maintenance staff at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City needs training to handle any mechanical emergency that can rear its head on any given day or night.

Patriot Guard, family, community honor Stoll

Representatives of the Patriot Guard Riders provided an honor guard before and after the funeral service of Clyde Chester Stoll at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nebraska City on July 19. Stoll, who served aboard the destroyer the USS Ammen in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, was a former Otoe County Commissioner and twice served as the Streets Commissioner for the City of Nebraska City. Stoll was a 50-year member of the American Legion and a member of the Elks Club. He is survived by seven daughters, 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.
