Makyala Vasser, a soon-to-be eighth grader and standout wrestler at Nebraska City Middle School, posted an 11-1 record, took All American honors, and had 10 pins, during action at the AAU Scholastic Duals at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. Vasser’s 10 pins came in a combined time of six minutes and 26 seconds with her fastest pin coming in just 10 seconds. She finished sixth for most pins in the least amount of time. Reagan Gallaway from Amherst, Nebr., had 11 pins in eight minutes.
Peter Steven Kozak age 76 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away June 28, 2022. Peter was born on June 19, 1946.

Ronald and Susan Meyer are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on July 8. The couple was married on July 8, 1972, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church at Johnson. Ron and Susan are lifelong area residents. Both taught school at Syracuse and then Johnson. Ronald switched careers from teaching to farming in 1982 and continues his cow-calf operation in the Johnson area to this day. In addition to her teaching career, Susan is also a retired 31-year employee of UPS. The couple have four children and 10 grandchildren. Leigh (Bryan) Wakulinski reside at rural Brock. Lane (Kylee) Meyer reside in rural Johnson. Lynn (Tricia) Meyer reside in Bentonville, Ark. Lance (Leah) Meyer reside in Minnesota.
Lucille Ruffner will turn 100 on July 6, 2022. Her family includes two sons and their spouses, four grandchildren and their spouses, and seven great grandchildren. Happy Birthday Mom, you are an amazing lady. We love you.
