Fifty-seven senior-age youth and ninety-seven intermediate-age youth from 46 counties participated in the Nebraska 4-H State Public Speaking Contest on Friday, June 24, at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus Union.
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has received a $1.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce to complete an academic facility offering realworld teaching within The Scarlet Hotel.

Margaret Spiers' Christmas Wishes Pay It Forward project will focus on granting wishes of Nebraska City cancer patients this upcoming holiday season. Last year, the Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce Community Development Group and Spiers’ Christmas Wishes Pay It Forward project partnered to fill 8 gift bags and stockings for cancer survivors and 80 gift bags for Nebraska City's first responders.
Otoe County 4-H youth participated at the 4-H Premier Animal Science Events (PASE), in Lincoln June 22-23. PASE consisted of 40 participating Nebraska counties and 477 individual youth entries in five livestock educational contests.
NSP honored for 2021 stop stick deployment The Nebraska State Patrol has been honored by Stop Stick Ltd. for the 2021 “Hit of the Year.” The award is presented annually for an exceptional stop stick deployment that results in the safe conclusion of a pursuit.

Plus, fish is an important source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been linked to heart and brain health.
Three Peru State College history students are completing summer internships in museums. Dr. Kathi Nehls, Associate Professor of History, said, “I am excited to see the excellent internship opportunities that have resulted from partnerships we have created with several historical societies in Southeast Nebraska.”
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kris Lien as our Interim Activities Director at Lourdes for the 2022-2023 school year. In addition to his new responsibilities as AD, a position previously held by Mr. Borer, Lien will continue to teach high school science at Lourdes and serve as a member of the Knights football coaching staff.
Project Response is the fortunate recipient of $2,000 worth of grant money from United Way! These funds are utilized to maintain office space/functions in Nebraska City, so that the agency may continue to serve survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, trafficking, harassment, and stalking–– as well as the community as a whole through prevention and education measures.
