Frogeye Leaf Spot showing up in more SE Nebraska crops

Gary Lesoing, Extension Educator A soybean disease that is causing more concern in Nebraska is Frogeye Leaf Spot. The past 10-15 years frogeye leaf spot sometimes caused issues here in southeast Nebraska, but it is showing up more in southeast Nebraska and the chances are great that it is resistant to the Qol (Group 11) fungicide which includes Strobilurins. Quadris is a popular fungicide that Frogeye Leaf Spot has been found to be resistant to. In my April issue of this newsletter, I addressed this issue of frogeye leaf spot in soybeans. In 2019 ten counties in Nebraska have identified soybeans that have been infected with Frogeye Leaf Spot resistant to fungicides.

Rental assistance funds available for tenants and landlords

The state of Nebraska has funds remaining through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). The ERAP funds are available to eligible individuals who need assistance paying prospective rent, back rent, and certain utilities – including gas, water, sewage, electricity, and internet assistance. The program will continue to accept applications through Sept. 9, 2022.

NCPS board recap

The Nebraska City Public Schools board of education amended the district's 2021-2022 budget during the regular July board meeting. The amended budget reflects refinancing of the district's general obligation bonds, which will save taxpayers almost $1 million over time.
