Quilt of Valor Presentation in NC

The Blue Star Mothers of Nebraska Chapter 1 of Nebraska City presented Quilts of Valor to eight veterans on Saturday, May 28, during ceremonies at the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building. To date, Blue Star Mothers have presented more than 8,000 Quilts of Valor in 2022 and 302,712 total since the quilts began being made and presented in 2003.

All-Alumni Reunion at NCHS Saturday

Nebraska City High School was one of the sites for NCHS alumni to gather on Saturday during the 142nd annual All-Alumni Reunion. A catered luncheon was one of the special events provided during the day-long reunion, which began with a continental breakfast at the high school at 9 a.m. and concluded with a concert featuring Scott Duncan at the Nebraska City Eagles Club at 7 p.m. The NCHS Alumni Association office was open for afternoon tours, and alumni took part in a fund-raising afternoon cornhole tournament in the parking lot of the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building.

Can-Care-a Van to visit NC June 7

The 10/11 Can Care-a-Van will have three stops in Nebraska City on Tuesday, June 7, with the goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of food for the Nebraska City Food Pantry. Donations will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 1023 1st Ave., Fareway at 1738 S. 11th St., and Walmart, 2101 S. 11th St. Most-needed items include laundry soap, canned fruit, toilet paper, shampoo, dish soap, cereal, canned vegetables, boxed potatoes, canned meat, jelly, peanut butter, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, soup crackers, diapers (any size), baby wipes, and ramen noodles.
