Cornhole Tournament benefits MUNCH program

A weekend cornhole tournament sponsored by Dinty Moore's Bar raised about $1,000 for the Mothers Undoing Childhood Nebraska Hunger (MUNCH) program in Nebraska City. A Feed The Children motorcycle and jeep poker run beginning at noon Saturday, June 25, will also benefit the MUNCH program. The run will start at The Wheel in Nebraska City, travel to B&J's Restaurant and Lounge Syracuse, The Lorton Lounge in Lorton, The Roundup Bar and Grill in Table Rock. Southside Saloon in Auburn, and return to the West Central Nebraska City at its conclusion.

A variety of themed camps with transportation options and financial aid available Camp Catron offers a beautiful outdoor setting, exhilarating activities, and more for Girl Scouts! Along with engaging summer camp programs, Girl Scouts can enjoy updated amenities all throughout the camp. New elements have been added to Eugene’s Adventure Course, an outdoor course suspended among the treetops, that includes a 30 feet free fall and zip lines that are close to 500 feet long.

Bethel Church to host Gearhead Sunday

Bethel Church of Nebraska City, 2400 Central Ave., will host Gearhead Sunday on June 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shine up hour hot rod, classic car, motorcycle, or antique tractor and enter it into the contest and then enjoy a free-will offering luncheon. Awards will be given to the top entries at 2:45 p.m. Awards will be given out for Best in Show in each category. Online registration is $25 and includes a t-shirt. Food Bank of Lincoln to host 20th annual Empty Bowls event

Raises funds to provide an estimated 360,525 meals to neighbors in Southeast Nebraska After pivoting to a drive-thru version for the last two years, the Food Bank of Lincoln’s annual Empty Bowls luncheon returned to an in-person format for the 20th year of the signature event. Ticket sales, sponsorships and individual donations combined for an event recordsetting total, enabling the Food Bank to provide an estimated 360,525 meals to neighbors facing hunger in its 16-county service area of Southeast Nebraska.
