Standing for Israel

Since 1948, Israel has been an important ally of the United States. Unfortunately, Israel has also endured a great deal of conflict with those who seek its destruction in the Middle East. Last weekend marked the 55th anniversary of Yom Yerushalayim, or Jersusalem Day, a celebration of the liberation of the city of Jerusalem from the forces of six of Israel’s aggressing neighbors during the Six Day War in 1967.

Nebraska City swim team opens summer season

The Nebraska City swim team opened its summer season with the Auburn Relays on June 4 and hosted its annual Fun Night meet on June 6. The team hosted Malvern and Hamburg on June 8 and was set to compete in another meet at Auburn on June 13. Other meets coming on the schedule are June 15 at home against Savannah, Shenandoah, and East Atchison; June 18 at the Maryville (Mo.) Invite, June 20 at Hamburg (Iowa); June 22, home for a meet with Malvern and Plattsmouth; Saturday, June 25 at home for the program’s annual invitational; and June 29 for a meet at Plattsmouth. The Nebraska City swim team’s annual awards night will take place after the last meet at a time and date to be announced. The Steinhart Park Aquatic Center is closed for the evenings of June 15 and June 22 so that the swim team can host its meet. Don’t Frustrate Grace

Galatians 2:21 “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” I had a mountain of sawed up logs on a trailer and a splitting ax. Every evening after work I would toil away at busting up the logs into burnable wood for my stove.

Modern Real Estate Juniors and Seniors host Waverly in doubleheader

The Nebraska City Modern Real Estate Juniors and Seniors hosted Waverly for a doubleheader on June 7 with the Juniors falling in defeat. The Senior game was suspended due to weather in the fifth inning with Waverly holding a decisive lead. The next home games for the Nebraska City teams, all doubleheaders, will be June 15 against Elkhorn Mount Michael beginning at 5:30 p.m., June 18 against Syracuse beginning at 2 p.m., June 21 against Ashland beginning at 5:30 p.m. and June 22 against Lincoln Southeast beginning at 5:30 p.m.
