Lourdes Central Catholic Graduation 2022

Thirty-two seniors at Lourdes Central Catholic received their high school diplomas during commencement exercises in the McCabe Activities Center at the school. Valedictorians Michael Bequette, Miles Draus, and Beau Lee addressed the audience, as did commencement speaker Dr. Mathew Hecker, superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Lincoln. Maryann Liesemeyer, who retired after 46 years of teaching at Lourdes, was honored during the ceremony. The Lourdes Central Catholic High School Band performed "Pomp and Circumstance" and the National Anthem during the ceremony.

Nebraska backs the blue 100 percent

After traveling the state for the past 7 ½ years as governor, I know Nebraskans appreciate all that law enforcement does to keep them safe. While other states cut funding for the police, Nebraska is boosting our support for our law enforcement.

Nebraska City middle school track compete at Gothenburg

Members of the Nebraska City middle school track team competed at the recent middle school state tournament at Gothenburg. Rico broke school record in 1600 meter run at the meet. The new record time was 4:55.81. The previous record was 5:03.07. Rico’s time placed him sixth. He also ran to a 15th place finish in the 800. Marth placed 11th in the discus and 12th in the shot. Vasser placed 15th in the shot.

William H. Werner

William “Bill” H. Werner, 68 of Syracuse, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was born on May 26, 1953, to Harold & Phyllis (Petersen) Werner in Syracuse. Bill attended Dist. 38 country school and graduated from Syracuse high school. After graduation he attended Milford Community College and worked for Gartner Construction. He later worked for many years on the receiving docks at Dillards. Bill was always willing to lend a helping hand. He
