St. Paul’s United Church of Christ – Osage celebrates 150 years

St. Paul’s church is located two miles north and onehalf miles east of Cook. It was during the Civil War era that a number of families from the states of Missouri, Ohio, Illinois and Iowa began settling in the area where Otoe and Johnson counties join together. Since the early address was Osage, Otoe County, Nebraska, the people of the area referred to the church as the Osage church.

Memorial Day observances in NC

Nebraska City will be the site of several Memorial Dayrelated observances this weekend. Above, The Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building, 810 1st Corso, will be open for public tours on Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Quilts of Valor will be presented to a group of local veterans at 1 p.m., and southeast Nebraska's own Bunky Christiansen (below) will perform a free concert in the parking lot from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday night. Christiansen, who has just completed some recordings in Nashville, has announced this will be his final concert in the area. On Monday, May 30, Wyuka Cemetery, located on South 19th Street, will host a 9 a.m. services with an address from the American Legion District Commander from Weeping Water. Photo by Julie Davis
