The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking to provide additional hunting and fishing opportunities on private lands through its Open Fields and Waters Program. Landowners willing to allow public, walk-in access for hunting or fishing can receive annual, per-acre payments through the program.
Interdisciplinary artist Jayson Fann has designed a symbolic drum created out of the trunk of a 270-year-old black oak tree downed by an ice storm in 2021 at the Arbor Day Farm in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day.

The winners of the annual Arbor Day Poster Contest for students in kindergarten through fifth grade were announced during the April 29 children's programs at Northside Elementary and at the mansion at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park. This year's winners, who were recognized at the morning Northside program, are Luna Neeman, Northside, kindergarten; Allie Schnitzer, Lourdes Central Catholic, first grade; and Mya Pals, Northside, second grade. Recognized at the afternoon Arbor Lodge program were Gwen Ebmeier, Lourdes Central Catholic, third grade; Emsly Shannon, Hayward, fourth grade; and Noah Walker, Hayward, fifth grade.

Seven members of Peru State College’s Phi Alpha Theta, along with two faculty members, recently had an experience of a lifetime as they visited Washington, D.C. It was a jam-packed four days of touring Washington, D.C.’s historical sites as well as taking in cultural events as well.
The Peru State College Chapter of Professional Business Leaders (formerly known as Phi Beta Lambda) recently experienced continued success at the Nebraska PBL State Leadership Conference. The conference was held in Kearney.
