TeamMates mentors, mentees attend Husker scrimmage

Approximately 1,500 TeamMates mentors and mentees attended the Husker Red-White Spring Game at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, April 9th. All who attended enjoyed the warm weather, the Husker win as well as the opportunity to attend the annual scrimmage for the first time since pre-covid event in 2019. CEO DeMoine Adams said, “We are grateful to the University for this opportunity to have 40 of our 139 TeamMates chapters participate in this great event. Because of Covid, we have not been able to have Team-Mates Matches events for some time, and we are certainly looking forward to hosting and attending more events in the future.”

Moths monitored in southeast Nebraska

This year Nebraska Extension in Nemaha County will be in its seventh year in southeast Nebraska with a pheromone trapping network to monitor black cutworm, variegated cutworm and true armyworm moths in southeast Nebraska. This is a local network of traps in southeast Nebraska during the 2022 planting season. Traps are being placed into service the first week of April, April 6th – April 8th in southeast Nebraska.

Recognizing PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, was first listed as a medical diagnosis in 1980. However, it has been recognized and called by many different names throughout history. The first recorded description of PTSD is in the Epic of Gilgamesh which dates back to 2100 B.C. In The Iliad and The Odyssey, Homer wrote about Trojan War soldiers exhibiting the symptoms of PTSD. Shakespeare described a character in King Henry IV who suffered from post-traumatic nightmares.
