Pictured is a Wednesday, March 9, view of four-lane traffic on Highway 2 at the Missouri River bridge on Highway 2 at Nebraska City. The road was closed to all traffic in March of 2019 and again in early summer of that year due to flooding. After the water receded, work began to restore the road and make it more flood resistant. That work included the installation of six overflow structures, three in the east bound lanes and three more in the west bound lanes. Traffic during those projects operated at two lanes with head-to-head traffic. Following the conclusion of the work on the overflow structures in 2021, traffic remained in two lanes as work continued on the west bound lanes of the Missouri River bridge. With all work having been completed on the Missouri River bridge, the road was opened to four-lane traffic for the first time in three years Photos byKirt Manion
