Nominations open for NCHS Hall of Fame

The NCHS Athletic Booster Club is accepting nominations through Friday, April 1, 2022, for the Class of 2022 Athletic Hall of Fame. Any person can nominate a Nebraska City Pioneer Athlete by completing the nomination form available at Nebraska City High School, Nebraska City Pioneer Athletic Booster Club Facebook page, or by emailing pioneerboosterhof@gmail.com to request a form. Forms can either be returned by email to pioneerboosterhof@gmail.com or sent via U.S. mail to: Pioneer Boosters, c/o Hall of Fame Committee, P.O. Box 644, Nebraska City, NE 68410.

Elaine M Pummel

Elaine M Pummel, age 97 passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Elaine was born January 16, 1925 in Fall City, Nebraska. She was the daughter of CE. and Alma Hoffman. On July 19, 1945 Elaine married Lee Pummel in Kansas City.

Sample fields for SCN this spring

With the weather improving, you may want to consider getting your fields sampled for soybean cyst nematode (SCN) this spring if you have never sampled them or if it has been a while; especially if yields may be lower than expected or if you have areas in fields that have spots that yielded poorly. These could be hot spots for SCN. It would be good to definitely sample these areas of the field.
