The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is presenting “Ice Works” by Jody Boyer through April 29. Boyer is an artist based in the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro area. Her latest body of work began in April of 2020 at the start of the pandemic. While Boyer sheltered in place with her family, she found herself reflecting not only on self-care but also on the roles and responsibilities of how we tend to each other, our shared communities, and our shared humanity.

Each March, we celebrate Women’s History Month. It is a time to reflect on the achievements of women.

Congressman Adrian Smith made his first visit to Nebraska City on Monday, March 21, since Otoe County became part of the Third Congressional District earlier this year. Smith was in town for a meet and greet event at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center hosted by the Nebraska City Rotary Club, followed by a tour of Arbor Day Farm. Smith's district increased by five counties, from 75 to 80, with the redistricting brought about by the results of the 2020 Census. He spoke to the audience about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Medicare, agriculture, trade, and Smith's work on the Ways and Means Committee, which oversees a number of programs, including Social Security, unemployment insurance, taxes, tariffs, and child support.

Julie Davis, CherryRoad Media The Nebraska City Rotary Club got to see a threedimensional look at the Nebraska City Sports Complex during the club's March 16 meeting. Evan Wickersham, branch manager of the Nebraska City office of JEO Consulting, discussed what his company has done to design the project so far, and how JEO will assist the city in completing the project going forward.
