As we mark one month since Putin began his invasion of Ukraine, keeping America safe is our priority. In just one month, Putin has displaced millions of Ukrainians from their homes, killed thousands of innocent people, including at least 120 children, and made troubling statements about Russia’s nuclear weapons.

Tax relief stalled, but not sunk

We ended this week by taking up one of the most important bills that we will discuss this session– LB 825– a bipartisan compromise that would have been the biggest structural tax relief bill in Nebraska history. We came up one vote short of breaking a filibuster with 32 votes- but the proposal may come up in other bills before the end of session. This legislation would be pivotal in providing structural Social Security, Income, and Property Tax relief.

What to know about the items that end up being recycled

Many of today's adults grew up recycling bottles, cans and paper products. That's made it easy to take the benefits of recycling for granted. Pioneers grab relay, shot put golds at A-G meet

Nebraska City’s track and field teams competed at the Ashland-Greenwood Invite on Friday, March 25, with the boys’ team picking up a fourth-place finish and the girls’ team taking sixth place. Gold medal winners for the Pioneer boys’ team included the 4x800 relay of Daniel Adanza, Mason Houghton, Alex Rico and Kalan Fritch with a mark of 9:29.03, and Zach Ottemann, who threw first place in the shot put with a mark of 46’6”.

Vasser’s bridge becomes viral-video sensation

With each wrestling tournament and with each match, the legend of Makayla Vasser grows. Nebraska City’s seventh grade wrestler is being noticed for her accomplishments at the local level as a member of the Pioneers’ middle school team, at the state level in Nebraska for her championship-winning ways, and throughout many other states where she has competed and gotten recognition for excellence. She’s now a viral-video sensation.
