DARE Program resumes in Nebraska City

Nebraska City Police Officer Casey Fertig has recently restarted the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program in Nebraska City. She visited the fifth-grade classrooms at Lourdes Central Catholic and Hayward Elementary last week, and she is educating students on the dangers of drugs and providing them with ways to say no to drugs and make good choices. House Fire on 11th Corso

Nebraska City Fire Department firefighters responded at about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, to a structure fire in the 700 block of 11th Corso. Four units and 20 firefighters fought the fire, which caused an estimated $30,000 damage to the home, which was vacant, and its contents. Cause of the fire remains under investigation with the state fire marshal's office.
