Arbor Day Farms hosts groundbreaking ceremony for new Porter’s restaurant

Arbor Day Farm hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Porter’s restaurant and Apple House Market on Friday, June 11, 2021. Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation, said the June 11 groundbreaking offered a chance to celebrate quite a different scene from September 2020 when a fire destroyed Porter’s and damaged the Apple House Market.

Cellular Advantage opens new US Cellular location

Former Nebraska City resident Kayla Riaski, district manager for Cellular Advantage, prepares to cut the ribbon during the grand opening of the US Cellular store on South 11th Street Oct. 19. The store, located at 1106 Grundman Blvd., offered product specials and events to promote its opening and to welcome customers to the new store. In the Pipeline for 2022

Here’s a look at what’s on the drawing board for 2022 and beyond: Housing: Nebraska City officials anticipate adding at least 30 new housing units in 2022. Countywide plans call for the addition of housing units to every village and city, possibly using some American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to make the projects happen.

Syracuse communuity enjoys new bathhouse opening

The new bathhouse at the Syracuse Aqua Center opened in 2021 after renovations were made and not opening in 2020 because of COVID, making possible an exciting summer for the community. The construction of a new bathhouse became the focus of a six-person committee after noticing that the old building was in poor conditions with holes in the structure giving access to animals.
