The Souper Bowl Soup Luncheon took place on Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Nebraska City Fire Station on Central Avenue. All proceeds from the annual luncheon fundraiser will support the Nebraska City Museum of Firefighting in its mission to preserve the history of the department while educating visitors of all ages about fire safety prevention and education. I answered the ring of my doorbell this afternoon – well before the start of the Super bowl. There stood a woman I have known since she was a tiny girl.
We’re nearly halfway through session and things are heating up in floor debate. A familiar foe arose this week- the urban-rural divide.
Experts estimate that well over 80 percent of people will experience back pain at some point in their lives. Perhaps ten percent of adults experience it at any given moment. Back pain is extremely common, and people with back pain can be extremely miserable. It may hurt to move, sit, stand, lay, even breathe. No wonder back pain accounts for so many visits to the doctor!

Fat has a bad reputation. Many people hear the words "fat" or "fats" and immediately think the worst. Fats go by many names, including lipids, fatty acids, vegetable fats, animal fats, and oils. While some fats can be harmful when consumed in excess, many fats are actually helpful to the body. Educating oneself about the different types of fats can make for a more well-rounded diet.
Nebraska City held leads at the half and after three quarters before Fort Calhoun rrallied to claim a twopoint win, 34-32, in the final regular season game for the NCHS team on Feb. 8.
Eight Nebraska City wrestlers punched their ticket to the NSAA Boys State Wrestling Championships during district action at the NCHS gym on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11 and 12.
