On a night when the Lourdes boys’ basketball program honored its three-peat state champion teams, Coach Trevor Krenk’s Knights looked every bit the part of a state champ in taking down Archbishop Bergan out of Fremont by the final score of 55-42. After the teams settled in early on, the Knight squad appeared to take control of the action in the second quarter and then poured it on with a 22-point third quarter.
Despite a 20-point fourth quarter that saw the Nebraska City boys’ basketball team make four three-point baskets, the visiting Warriors from Wahoo were able to escape the Pioneer gym with a 55-48 victory.
Confidence continues to grow for the Nebraska City girls’ wrestling team, which picked up a second place finish in the 16-team Fairbury Invite last week. Nebraska City was led by Zaria Ruby and Pacie Lee, both individual champs.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) require each state highway agency to develop a Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The STIP must list all highway and transit projects that will be using federal funds, as well as all regionally significant transportation projects using non-federal funding sources. It covers a period of four years and in Nebraska is updated every year on October 1st. Periodically, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) must amend the STIP for reasons such as; to add or remove projects, to make adjustments to funding sources or estimates or to update a project’s scope of work.

Another holiday season means that some long-standing family traditions make their annual appearence. One of my favorite traditions is setting up our well-traveled Nativity scene, which passed to my keeping in 1993 after my father passed away.
I am writing to ask for letters of support for Calvin Chapman to be selected to become the next historical bust to be placed in the famed state capitol of Nebraska. The hallways of famed and notable Nebraskans who have made significant contributions to and for the citizens or history of Nebraska still lacks the presence of my great-grandfather, Calvin Chapman of Nebraska City.
