First Christian Church in Nebraska City at 114 North Eighth Street will host its Open Door Dinner on Tuesday, Dec. 14. The menu is scallop potatoes and ham, mix vegetables and cake. The meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome and there is no charge.
More than 217,000 children are treated in emergency rooms annually for toy-related injuries, either because of the toy itself or due to the mishandling of it. Early season home tournament action saw the Lourdes Knights host the Elmwood-Murdock Knights in championship and third place games. Lourdes took to the court for the boys’ third place game and responded to the challenge of Coach Trevor Krenk in scoring 27 second half points on the way to a 40-27 victory.
The Nebraska City girls’ basketball team opened its season with a 45-15 set back at Beatrice on Friday, Dec. 3.
The Nebraska City girls’ wrestling team placed 5th at the 25 team Rumble on the River wrestling invite. Jocelyn Davis led the girls with a silver medal as she went 3-1.

The look up site with 70 million monthly users took the unusual step of anointing a word it added just last month, though “allyship” first surfaced in the mid-1800s, said John Kelly, the site’s associate director of content and education.
