Dale William Wurtele

NEBRASKA CITY - Dale William Wurtele, age 84 of Nebraska City died November 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Dale was born September 22, 1937 in Nebraska City, the son of Alton William and Ruth Anna Emilie (Beccard) Wurtele. Dale graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1955. He married Bonnie Jones September 18, 1960 in Julian. Dale was a farmer and formerly served in the Nebraska National Guard. He had driven trucks for WH Manufacturing, Crownline Plastics, Falstaff, Budweiser, Farmer’s Coop and City Wholesale Meats. Dale moved to Nebraska City from the farm in 2004 and was a member of Bethel Church, Nebraska City Elks Lodge No. 1049 and was a 50+ member of Eagles Aerie No. 968.

Loreen Joan Haupt

UNION - Loreen Joan Haupt, age 87 of Union died November 21, 2021 at CHI St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City. She was born December 15, 1933 to Albert & Mollie (Sieber) Weber at their family farm home near Ohiowa, NE. Loreen worked at Ocoma Foods and Pendleton Woolen Mills and was active in the community. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marcella and husband, Frank Bulin; two stepfathers, Bill Rickels and Art Peter; grandson, Albert Haupt Jr., and son in law, Barry Kastens. Survivors include her husband, Jack Haupt; sons, Albert (Brenda) Haupt Sr, Carl (Debra) Haupt, John (Beth) Haupt; daughter, Vicki Kastens; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Equipment reserve fund approved

Future Nebraska City City Councils may have an easier time replacing expensive equipment, thanks to the city’s new equipment reserve fund. As the city began its 2021-2022 fiscal year, it had about $732,000 in additional revenues, and the council approved setting some of the money aside for future equipment purchases.
