The Nebraska City Police Department will be reimbursed $19,141.21 by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety for operations costs associated with multiple grant programs completed in 2009.
The office is also receiving specialized equipment valued at $10,584.99 for participation in grant activities.
The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety will pay for 75 percent of two in-car video camera systems. For participation in earlier grant activities, NCPD received a Canon A570 digital camera. Grant participation also qualified NCPD to apply for and receive funds to pay for six new hand-held preliminary breath intoximeters.
From Aug. 21-Sept. 7, the office worked on the DUI grant, also known as “You drink - You drive - You lose.” The department worked 100 extra hours, writing 55 citations, issuing 66 warnings and making 20 arrests.
The office worked on the Click It or Ticket grant from Nov. 23-29, working 54 extra hours. A total of 42 citations were written, 65 warnings issued and seven arrests made.
From Dec. 4 through Jan 2, the office worked on the D.U.I. grant, working 80 extra hours. A total of 39 citations were written, 37 warnings issued and 31 arrests made.
A grant for alcohol compliance checks was worked on Dec. 11. Six officers and three under-aged informants worked 23 extra hours, checking 25 alcohol retail businesses resulting in three citations.
