A Highway 75 traffic accident claimed the life of a Holdrege man, the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday.

John Donoghue, 68, died at the Nemaha County Hospital from injuries suffered about a quarter mile south of the Otoe County line near the Julian corner on Monday morning.

A 2009 Subaru Forester driven by Mary Thomas, 47, of Cook and a 2006 Toyota Prius driven by Jacquelyn Donoghue, 66, of Holdrege collided.

The sheriff’s office said weather might have played a role in the accident.
Thomas was southbound on the west shoulder of the highway delivering mail, when her vehicle was struck from behind by the Toyota.

Auburn Rescue also transported Jacquelyn Donoghue to the hospital in Auburn. She was later transferred to a Lincoln hospital.
