Nebraska City, Neb. -

Lourdes senior-to-be Steven Francois says his goal and the team goal centers around state.

Francois, a wide receiver, has set his sights on making all state.

Meanwhile, the team has set its sights on winning the first state championship in school history.

The Knights have a history of making the playoffs with the team making the post season every year since 2002.

Lourdes qualified in 2008, its first season as an 11-man team, then returned a year ago and won a playoff game.

Francois said the team will train hard in the offseason to improve that finish. From aerobics and weight lifting and camps, Francois said the Knights are ready to do whatever it takes to improve.

And the in-season plan might change as well.

Francois said the players are thinking of lifting more during the season than they have in the past.

“There’s another team that has done that and they’ve won numerous state championships,” Francois said.
