Taylor Angus picked up two medals for the Nebraska City girls' track team last Thursday.

The Nebraska City track and field teams were in action at the Platteview Invite last Thursday.

A total of 15 points placed the Pioneer girls’ team at 10th out of 11 teams.

Taylor Angus scored a pair of medals. She was third in the 200 meters, 27.9, and fourth in the 100, 13.1. She ran 27.4 in the 200 prelims.

Heather Teten took fourth in the 300 hurdles, 52.5, and Shelby Scroggins was sixth in the discus, 98’.

Taylor DeVorss and Audra Wetrosky had season bests in the long jump.

Amanda Chapin had a season best in the 1600 and Teten had a season best in the 400.

Paxton Farris had the lone medal for the boys’ team. He threw a personal best and fifth place distance of 41’8” in the shot.

Chaz Lewis had a personal best of 12.0 in the 100 meters. Trevor Krenk made finals for the triple jump.

Josh Conner and Adam Smith were just out of the medal chase. Conner was seventh in the 300 hurdles with a personal best time of 45.4, and Smith was seventh in the high jump.

The Pioneers’ top scorer this season, Aaron Conner, was rested due to injury. Coach Ron Schaulis said he expects Conner to be back at full strength this week.

The Nebraska City track and field teams will return to action with meets at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Beatrice and at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Crete.

Looking further ahead on the schedule, the team will compete at the Eastern Midlands Conference meet at Elkhorn on May 7 before wrapping up the season at the district track meet at Auburn on May 14. State track is set to begin May 22.
